Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Duties may include: bathing, grooming and feeding patients; obtaining and monitoring vital signs; ambulatory assistance and comfort measures.

Acute Healthcare Institute's Nursing Assistant course is 4-weeks taught in hybrid and in-person format. Hybrid students will come in-person on the first day of the course. During the course students will complete all required reading, assignments and tests at home/online. During the 4 weeks, students will attend in-person, 4-5 hour skills labs for hands-on learning and simulations on scheduled dates with our highly skilled instructors. On the last 2 days students will wear maroon colored scrubs and go to the clinical site from 7:00am to 3:30pm for hands-on clinical learning experience with live patients.  You must complete all assignments on time.

The total cost of the course is $900*You can reserve your seat with a $300 down payment (this includes our $150 non-refundable registration application fee). We will set up a payment for the remaining balance in the amount of $150 due weekly starting the Friday before the first day of the course. Alabama residents who receive food stamps may qualify for a scholarship. All costs must be paid on time, prior to attending the in-person skills labs and clinical learning experience site.

Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will be eligible to take the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Once you become certified in Alabama (you can then transfer that certification to another state, there is no additional cost to transfer the certification to Georgia).‍ ‍

The courses at Acute Healthcare Institute are designed to provide students with the necessary skills to become a vital part of any dynamic healthcare team.

   Nursing Assistant Requirements:

Students must be at least 18 years of age and able to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid US Government Issued ID (Driver’s license)

  • Social Security Card

  • CLEAR Criminal Background Check (included in course cost)

  • Immunization Requirements:

    -Negative TB skin test (included in down payment)

    -Hepatitis B series

    -Influenza (may be required during flu season)

  • Students may be asked to provide:

    -Negative Drug Screen, additional immunizations, Physical exam, proof of health insurance

Acute Healthcare Institute is licensed by the Alabama Private School Licensure Division as a Private school approved to offer programs of instruction within the state of Alabama.

All students are responsible for the cost of their uniform and state testing fee.
