The courses at Acute Healthcare Institute are designed to provide students with the necessary skills to become a vital part of any dynamic healthcare team.
Phlebotomy Technicians are medical professionals trained to draw blood using venipuncture. Phlebotomy Technicians are important members of the health care team and often need to explain the blood-drawing procedure and put patients at ease.
Acute Healthcare Institute offers a 4-week course, taught in hybrid format that is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an entry level Phlebotomy Technician. In this course you will learn how to perform venipuncture (draw blood), capillary sticks (finger sticks) and how to obtain specimens.
Students will come in-person on the first day of the course. During the course students will complete all reading, assignments and tests at home/online and come in-person for hands-on learning and simulations with expert instructors. You are expected to complete all assignments on time. The in-person 4-5 hour skills labs for hands-on learning and simulations on scheduled dates with our highly skilled instructors. Students will be required to participate in drawing blood on each other in order to provide our students with exceptional hands-on training.
The cost for this course is $950. The $310 down payment (includes the $150 non-refundable registration application fee) secures your seat. We will set up a payment plan for the remaining balance, $160 to be paid weekly starting the Friday before the first day of class.. All costs must be paid on time, prior to attending the in-person skills labs.
Admission requirements:
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and
able to speak, read, write and understand English
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. US Government issued photo identification (ie. driver’s license)
3. Social security card
4. Negative TB skin test or Chest X-ray
5. The payment of registration application fee and arrangements to pay program cost.
6. Signed registration application and signed enrollment documents.
7. Negative Drug screen (when requested)
Students who successfully complete the Phlebotomy Technician course at Acute Healthcare Institute will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. Upon successful completion of course requirements, students are prepared for national exam for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) with National Healthcareer Association (nhanow.com). All students are responsible for the cost of national testing after successfully completing the course.
